Purpose

This document outlines the procedures to safely secure FamiLAB in the event of inclement weather, such as hurricanes or tropical storms.

When to Initiate Shutdown Procedures

Shutdown will be initiated under the following conditions:

• The facility is in the projected path of a named storm
  and/or

• A decision is made at the discretion of the Board of Directors

Shutdown Checklist

Power & Equipment

• Turn off all breakers except Server Closet Breaker #17

• Unplug the electronic door system

• Move the following computers off the floor:

  • Laser computer

  • X-Carve computer

• Tarp the laser cutters and X-Carve machine to protect from water damage

Building Prep

• Bring in any items stored behind the building

• Sandbag all exterior doors

• Turn off the main water valve

  • Location: To the left of the A/C unit in the rear when facing the building

Additional Measures

• Board up windows – Check with the landlord for approval or assistance

Communication Plan

• Use both Email and Slack to notify members:

  • Prior to closure (include date/time and precautions being taken)

  • Once the space has been cleared and is safe to reopen

Reopening Procedures

• The facility may reopen only after a Board Member has inspected and cleared the space

• A follow-up email and Slack message will be sent to inform members that operations have resumed
